Social Action
Social Action
EBJC has a vibrant social action community.
We collect non-perishable food items for the Kosher Food Pantry and are one of the largest supplies of food items to the Jewish Family Services pantry.
Every month we focus on a different collection of items for the poor and needy. It ranges from coats, to paper goods, to linens, towels and bedding. We bring the items to the appropriate organization where they are given to those in need. We will often have a special Shabbat honoring our veterans (with a donation drive), for cancer awareness (with opportunities to donate to cancer research), etc.
We make soup for the Stein Hospice Center every month with adult volunteers and with our Kesher students. The soup is then packed up into quart containers and delivered to the residents of the hospice center.
Once a year, we hold a “Mitzvah Day” where we focus on EBJC beautification. Volunteers will be seen painting classrooms, planting annuals and perennials around the grounds, repairing fences, cleaning out closets, organizing supply rooms and kitchens, and so much more!
We are always open to suggestions and are more than eager to fill a need for the community - please reach out to Hollie Cerame, our Chair of Social Action at sltcbear@aol.com if you have any ideas or would like to get involved. No one has to put in more time than they are willing or able to. We take it one project at a time!
