Meet our Presidents
IRA MERKEL - My name is Ira Merkel and I am the co-president of East Brunswick Jewish Center. My wife, Elise, and I moved to EB almost 30 years ago. Both our children were students at Solomon Schechter and always visible at EBJC participating in services and celebrating life cycle events. My interests include collecting, teaching, trying to exercise and find time to spend with my wife and children. I have seen the evolution of EBJC over the years and I am committed to securing its future for years to come. We offer a wide range of programming both in religious and secular studies, as well as an abundance of social activities that appeal to all age groups from tots and teens to our group of "experienced" adults. We have a vibrant Mens Club and Sisterhood, and an active youth program. East Brunswick Jewish Center can truly be the center of your Jewish life
JEFFREY RUDOLPH - My name is Jeff Rudolph and I am the co-president of East Brunswick Jewish Center. I became a member of East Brunswick Jewish Center at the age of seven when my parents joined the synagogue. I spent many years attending Hebrew School three days a week. During this time, I learned the history of Judaism and prepared for my Bar Mitzvah, all while having fun with friends. After my Bar Mitzvah, I spent years in Hebrew High School while assisting with the Hebrew School Program. I attended college at West Chester University. During my college years, I spent Sunday mornings teaching Hebrew. My wife, Brooke, also grew up as a member of East Brunswick Jewish Center. Together we decided that there is no other synagogue we would rather raise our children in. I spend my free time watching my son, Jordan, play baseball and my daughter, Madison, dance her heart out. I have been a part of the temple for almost forty years. Our religious family is growing by the minute. I am dedicated to providing a warm place of worship and assisting in planning events to create memories with your families and friends. East Brunswick Jewish Center has been a part of my family for many years, and I am hoping for it to become a part of yours.
