Hazak – For Active Seniors 55+
HAZAK IN A NUTSHELL
Hazak (Hokma for Wisdom, Zikna for Maturity and Kadima for Forward) is a wonderful program made through the combined efforts of EBJC, Jewish Family Services and Federation. September through June, we offer entertaining and thought provoking programs. We have six lunches, two dinners and two Sunday brunches to accommodate all of our seniors!
There is no charge for the program, but Jewish Family Services does ask for a suggested donation of $8.00 per person to offset the cost of the luncheon.
DUE TO THE COST OF HAVING TO ORDER EXTRA FOOD FOR THOSE THAT DO NOT BOTHER TO REGISTER, JFS IS REQUESTING A DONATION OF $10.00 FOR THE MEAL TO HELP OFFSET THE ADDITIONAL EXPENDITURE. PLEASE MAKE EVERY ATTEMPT TO REGISTER ONLINE OR CALL THE OFFICE!
As we do offer lunch, it is imperative that everyone RSVP in advance to assure that there is enough food to go around (we never want to run out, but it has happened). Additionally, Jewish Family Services (JFS) is provided a government grant, called Cameo which supplements the program. However, in order for JFS to be reimbursed, they must have everyone register through them. No one will be contacted, the list will not be sold or given out, no emails will be sent and you won't be solicited. This is simply how they get reimbursed.

October 20, Thursday, Noon luncheon - Larry Wolfert - Jewish Women in Comedy (warning, it may be a bit naughty!). While primarily dominated by men throughout history, American Jewish women became prominent comic performers in the immigrant generation when comedic talents like Sophie Tucker, Fanny Brice, and Molly Picon took to the stage. In every successive generation, Jewish women comedians helped shape the contours of American comedy. From Sophie Tucker to Amy Schumer and many in between, you will learn that the significance of American Jewish women in comedy cannot be overstated – but it certainly can be enjoyed. It’s a fun filled trip that will keep you laughing.
